TORAH SHEMOT “Names” EXODUS 1:1 to 6:1 Isaiah 27 Matthew 2:1-12
DEC 18, 2021 beautiful full moon Dec 21 winter solstice Jan 2 Sunday 1st new moon of 2022
December 25, 2021 is celebrated as Christmas day by modern Christians. I want to briefly answer the question was Jesus born on December 25? Why do we celebrate his nativity on that date? According to Christianity Today, it was around the year 273 that the church considered commandeering the existing pagan festival of winter solstice as fitting time to honor the son of God. Western Christians officially began celebrating December 25 as the birth of Jesus in 336 AD.
The church in Rome began formally celebrating Christmas on December 25 in 336, during the reign of the emperor Constantine. As Constantine had made Christianity the effective religion of the empire, some have speculated that choosing this date had the political motive of weakening the established pagan celebrations.
The second book of the Bible is called SHEMOT in Hebrew or EXODUS in English, which is taken from a Greek word meaning departure. Chapter 1 begins with naming all the sons of Jacob/Israel that had come in to Egypt. The family total was 70 souls. they lived in Egypt in the land of Goshen when Joseph was second head of Egypt, during the great famine that lasted seven years. As the years passed Joseph died and new pharaohs came into power. They were alarmed at the growth of these foreigners, the Hebrews, in their land. They put them to work as slaves. The story begins with the Pharaoh commanding the Hebrews to make bricks. The midwives were told to kill the baby boys at birth. When the midwives did not do that the pharaoh commanded them to throw the boys into the Nile river at birth. Moses was born during this time. His mother put him in a basket in the river when he was a few months old, The princess of pharaoh found him. His older sister Miriam advised the princess that he could be her son but raised by a nursing mother. We find that the princess actually gives support to Moses own family to raise him. When he was weaned, the princess raises him. Many think this could have been up to three years.
A pattern of babies being killed by ruling authorities is seen here and it is seen when Yeshua Jesus was born at the time of Herod. Herod ordered the killing of all the baby boys under two years old. When Moses was 40 years old he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew and he killed the Egyptian. In anger, Pharaoh planned to kill Moses. So Mosch fled to Midian and ended up being there 40 years. He married Zipporah, the daughter of a priest of Midian finding his bride after watering her father’s sheep. Abraham’s servants dug wells with Abraham having to keep moving on until his enemies left the well alone. Abram’s servant finds his son Isaac’s wife by a well as does Ya’cov find brides by the same well. Water and wells speak of nations.
Moses had 2 sons naming one of them Gerhson which means foreigner.
Moses has three segments of 40 years. The first segment finds him in the school of the eletes…the Pharaohs. The second segment of forty years finds him learning the ways of being a shepherd in a foreign land…Midian. The third segment finds him leading the Israelite’s teaching them survival tactics…yes against their surrounding enemies but against God himself, too. Mosch understands the ways of the Pharaoh’s (kings). He relates to shepherding and raising children and he uses this training to TEACH The Torah to a new generation of forty year old humans that cross over to a Promised Land.
It will take 400 years to prepare the land, grow enough Israelites to take the land and to settle it. This can be compared to Yeshua Jesus coming at 4000 years when that same land now is occupied by false leadership known as The Herods. They were not Jews but men that married Jewish woman in order to occupy the priesthood. These Herods were evil men killing children at the time that Yeshua was born on the earth. Today, head politicians have again agreed to kill children but it has gone further when they grow and harvest children for sexual enterprises. Today humans are an organ supply chain. The human body was sold into slavery by the Pharaohs, Herods and now The Left.
The Lord appeared to Moses at age 80, in the desert in the form of a burning bush. He spoke and told him he was sending Moses to Egypt to deliver the Hebrews from bondage. Aaron was to be his helper. Moses saddled up a donkey put his wife and two sons on it and headed for Egypt.
Exo 4:20 And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.
Sort of reminds you of Mary and Joseph going to Bethlehem, she was pregnant and rode on a donkey. They were required to be taxed. In Hebrew “Bethlehem” means House of bread. It is the city where David was considered to be from, and he was crowned king there. Luk 2:4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David). Later, Joseph is told to take Mary and baby Jesus (Yeshua) and go to Egypt. We find that Moses and Yeshua used Egypt as a hiding place. And, it is Egypt that has a road coming out of it that leads to Jerusalem noted in end-time prophecy. It is a place that is NOT to be destroyed because it has helped raise up the Israelite.
Mat 2:13 behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
So when Moses appeared before Pharaoh he warned pharaoh if he did not let the people go God would kill his firstborn son. Exo 4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:
Here we see Israel and Yeshua Jesus aligned. Yeshua is God’s firstborn son come in the flesh as well as Israel is used as a first-born son. The first group of sons bring us into ‘the second’ born son becoming first. Yeshua Jesus is Israel. Yes, Yeshua came to the earth to become Israel. Just as we see Him as The Word that was from the beginning with God at Creation, we see Him confirming the words given to Moses…which are only from The Father. Moses and Yeshua are equal in their words. Yeshua confirmed what Moses even going as far as to LIVE it out. Yeshua is different than Moses in that Moses spoke what The Father said and Yeshua lived out what The Father said. And yet, The Torah and The Word (Yeshua Jesus) are the same. They have no conflict and are one in thought. This is because only words from The Father can be spoken by Yeshua. In Exodus 4:23 we see The Firstborn slaying pattern which is a prophecy to first-born Yeshua even having God’s wrath laid upon him. Mankind has The Wrath removed from him…which is grace for sure. Yeshua took all the wrath and therefore BELIEVERS in His atoning blood and resurrection will have not wrath in eternity.
Exo 4:23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.
When pharaoh is stubborn and refuses to let the people go, the Lord renews his promise to Moses saying I will deliver these people with a strong hand. This was ‘the wrath of God’ for disobedience. When in obedience…as Yeshua was obedient…it can be said, “Well done good and faithful servant.” to you at the Bema Seat.
Matthew 2 is the story of the wisemen from the east following a star that came and settled in over Bethlehem. They were looking for the king of the Jews and were following the star. They appeared before Herod in Jerusalem.
Mat 2:2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
Herod did not know anything about a king, his competition, and he was greatly troubled. The prophecy stated:
Mat 2:6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
Mat 2:16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.
The NATIVITY Let’s turn to the story of the birth of Yeshua. You will find the angel Gabriel coming to a virgin named Mary .
Luk 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. Read Luke 2. It is full of the wonder in the miracle of Yeshuas birth. To the shepherds an angel appeared in the sky and announced:
Luke 2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. Luk 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Luk 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
From Wikipedia: Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, observed primarily on December 25 as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world.
Let us take time to consider and marvel and be grateful at the birth of the Messiah. King of kings, lord of lords, Prince of peace. Salvation. God sent his one and only begotten son to cover God’s wrath for sinning. God is love. Share the good news. Messiah has come and carried the wrath away…washed it away…as we see in finding brides by wells, crossing water to reach the other side as we will when we die…we cross a veil. The veil or parapet was cracked by the earthquake when Yeshua Jesus died…the skies went pitch black when the sun was covered with darkness. Yes, it was NOT the inner veil that was torn but the outer veil that weighed more than perhaps a ton. We are called Israelite priests that have entrance to the outside. We do NOT have access to the ‘inner altar’ as that is for the High Priest alone…Yeshua is our High Priest in heaven and on earth. We are NOT high priests as Yeshua is the only High Priest coming to reign.
42 – The Tribes and Journeys of Israelites who desire to welcome our King to their house…to their inner dwelling places in their physical body. El Shaddai – Provides our every need. AT Christmas we incite Christ into our homes. May the trees have living water by them so we can be green trees growing in Him. May we look at the lights and remember that He Yeshua is The Light of the World. May we look at gifts as Yeshua as He is The Father’s gift that leads us to salvation into eternity.
Christmas is not when The Wisemen came nor the angels sang…but if we do remember to correlate the ‘good’ of His blood (red) being the atoning force for the wrath that we humans deserve, then perhaps this Christmas can be observed on The Sabbath of rest. Or, is it busy cooking and cleaning etc….making it a day of exhaustion when you fall into bed from being everyone’s Santa. Mixed emotion from whether to give honor to this old Saint Nick and not even thinking of Jesus. Mixed emotions from did they like my gifts…were they enough? So, many high expectancies with added disappointments.
What is this day about? It’s about our generations coming together in love…eating a covenant meal together saying we are ‘family’ again. It is a day we can list the names in our families that we can once again see and love on. It is the Sabbath…a day to give to the poor and help the needy.
Even making calls to say ‘thank you’ for gifts is part of making ‘MERRY’ the name of Jesus who gave his life on the stake so we could be MERRY into eternity.
Many people are slipping into eternity and are they moving toward the lights of ‘Goshen’ where they were protected from the ‘plagues’, or are they alone on a ventilator with no one to hold their hand?
Did God divorce Israel? Who walked away? God never walks away from His covenants…but man will walk. He walks out on his family, his job all in the name of saving himself from possibly getting COVID…the fear of death has paralyzed our world. We all must die and should not live in fear. We MUST come out and function to show our HOPE in God to save us. Take off your masks so you can speak clearly.
Let us give honor to children this Christmas Day….it is NOT about abortion or Pharoah’s killing children. It is about us being a princess that even pays the original mother to take care of her own child…as Moses mother did. Miracles are everywhere for us to know how God operates.
Do you see him? Open your Bible and be somber. What is the story about…and what is it saying to you. Choose your family carefully…because it could mean which direction you end up into eternity. Moses was an educated man and yet learned how to take care of sheep. Take time to educate yourself so you can be a leader of nations….your personal family needs you.
Do NOT murder yourself…. There is no place in the Kingdom of God for such.
Do NOT murder babies…. Raise up children even if you have to pay someone else to do it for you.
Be MERRY because the time is short. The calendars align so all men will have no excuse to know the timing of The Firstborn’s return. Coming as king of kings with all the earth seeing it. Look up…not down…not in a corner…not hidden somewhere…But UP to the FIREY burning sky…the patterns always repeat.
Next week Torah portion is named, “And He Appeared.”
Yes, He will appear…and you must be ready with NO contention in your life. Commit to being a peacemaker…close your mouth and listen…to only speak with peace on your lips.
Sh’mot – name. Will your name be in the registry? It was always there, but is it still there? Whose red do you get excited about? Santa
WRONG –
Shut that down…He comes in secret at night.
YESHUAH is coming in full light as a bright burning bush in the heavens….it will be in The Day…not night! All will clearly see and be shocked at the sight. Names are written in two books. Which book are you in?
Make every Sabbath, Rosh Chodesh and Festival: MERRY!
