David’s Comment: Israel – The Nation People Love to Hate
1 John 5:19     The whole world lies under the influence of the evil one

I have written on this subject a few years ago, but in light of the dramatic rise of Anti-Semitism, and the increase of violent attacks against Jews in many places, I felt to repeat it this week. Sadly I am not exaggerating when I say that Israel is the most hatred country in the world today. The above Bible verse explains why it is that down through the ages, that so many people have harboured an irrational an viscious hatred for the Jewish people. Satan hates Israel. In fact Satan has always hated Israel. Satan hates everything God loves, but with Israel and the Jewish people, it is a double hatred. I believe it is because the evil one knows the truth about Israel. He knew that the Son of God would come to Israel the first time, so he inspired King Herod to kill all of the Jewish boys under 2 years of age in a desperate attempt to abort the plan of God.  And he still hates Israel today because he knows that Israel is the only nation in the world that the Son of God can possibly come to, when He returns in the near future, to re-establish the Kingdom of God on the Earth.

The devil is an expert at manipulating human beings to carry out his wicked plans. Israel’s history is a 3800 year saga of a succession of evil men who were inspired by the devil to destroy Israel and the Jewish people.  Pharaoh, Haman, Antiochus Epiphanes, King Herod, and Adolf Hitler are the main culprits in Satan’s anti-Israel line-up. We could add many of the so-called Church fathers, Martin Luther, Henry Ford. Yassar Arafat and  todays Iranian  leaders to that list. As the late New Zealand born end-time Kiwi evangelist and Bible teacher Barry Smith used to say, “the man dies, but the spirit moves on.”

In the past it has only ever been one particular nation that has risen up to be Israel’s “public enemy no 1”  at any given time. However in our time, in an amazingly accurate fulfillment of Joel 3:1, we are witnessing a rapid and substantial rise in anti-Semitism in almost every nation in the world. I believe that because the Kingdom of God is coming soon to Israel, we are now witnessing this rise of intense and irrational hatred for Israel and the Jewish people in a modern world which, in every other situation prides itself on inter-racial tolerance, often going ridiculously overboard to be “politically correct”.

Of all the hatred based on race or religion, anti-Semitism makes the least sense. The Jewish people have given the world so much of the things that make our lives comfortable today – medicine, science, computers & mobile phones, art, literature, movies, music and other forms of entertainment. The number of Jewish Nobel prize winners is totally disproportionate compared to the Jewish population. This demonically inspired anti-Jewish behaviour that we see all over the world today is totally irrational, without a realistic foundation, but as I wrote at the beginning it is understandable in the secular world if we consider 1 John 5:19.

What I do find hard to comprehend is why so many people who consider themselves to be Bible believing Christians seem to dislike, even hate the nation of Israel. I lay the blame for this sad state of affairs on Replacement Theology, and the lack of correct teaching in Bible schools and seminaries, and from the hundreds of thousands of church pulpits on Sunday mornings. I often ask people when was the last time their pastor gave a message about Israel ? – 99% of the time the answer is never. God says that Israel is the apple of His eye and that He is Zealous for Zion, and yet most of the people who say that they love God, dont give Israel a second thought. A shockingly high number of them show their hated by openly standing against Israel.

On the other hand, I praise the Lord for the remnant of true Bible Believers who love the Lord, love and believe His Word, and love Israel and the Jewish people. More than ever before, I sense the Holy Spirit directing me to encourage and equip as many Christians as I can reach, to study and learn the truth about the Israeli / Arab conflict from the Bible and from other unbiased sources of information pertaining to the subject. I have been teaching for 15 years now about the the prophetic relevance of the restoration of Israel. Josie and I firmly believe that the return of Israel as a nation in 1948, the reunification of Jerusalem in 1967, and the re-establishment of the Messianic Body here in Israel are all unmistakeable indicators, refererd to by the prophets, that the end of this age is rapidly approaching and Yeshua will soon return to re-establish Hs Father’s Kingdom on the Earth, but centred in Jersualem. This is what my book, A SLOW TRAIN COMING, is about. It gives an easy to read overview of the history of Israel and the Church.

Once again I encourage you to take check these resources out and pass the information on to as many others as possible, especially famil, friends amd your leaders.  It is imperative that the Church understands what God is doing in the world today and partners with Him to hasten the day of Yeshua’s return (2 Pet 3:12)

The Lord bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist in the land given to the Jewish people by the God of Israel. Please pray that Israel will turn back to their God. Do not be silent at this most strategic time, but please share this.. with all of your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Please also pray for a major breakthrough to the Muslim world, and remember to pray for all of the soldiers in the IDF.  Even though they are not aware of it, they are defending and fighting for the soon coming of the Messiah and the Kingdom of God.

S habbat Shalom ……  David & Josie

THIS WEEKS NEWS REPORTS

1.  Israeli Air Force Strikes Targets in Syria    Times of Israel   April 25th

Israel reportedly hit several targets belonging to Hezbollah and the Syrian army in a series of air attacks Saturday morning in the Kalamun area on the border between Syria and Lebanon.  According to a report in the Saudi-owned al-Arabiya, a first Israeli Air Force strike took place Wednesday, allegedly targeting two sites believed to have been Syrian army missile depots. According to a report in al-Jazeera, the Syrian targets were divisions 155 and 65 of the Assad army, in charge of “strategic weapons.” Al-Arabiya reported that the targets were Scud missile depots housed in the military bases.  Several explosions were heard in the areas of Kteife, Yabrud and a village in Kalamun, according to al-Jazeera on Saturday. The area is known as a Syrian military site housing weapons depots and installations.   There was no official word from Hezbollah or the Syrian government on the alleged attacks.  Israel is said to have targeted the same area in the past when it believed a shipment of advanced weaponry was being delivered from Iran to its Shiite proxy in Lebanon. Please pray that the northern border stays calm

2. Violence Breaks Out on the Sabbath     Times of Israel   April 25th

Palestinians clashed with Israeli security forces in East Jerusalem Saturday after the IDF shot dead a Palestinian teen assailant at a checkpoint overnight.  Rioters threw stones at police in the At-Tur neighborhood of East Jerusalem, and Israeli security forces responded with riot control gear. One policeman was lightly injured, Israel Radio reported, and the Red Crescent reported that 20 Palestinians were injured in the skirmish.    The clashes came after the neighborhood of At-Tur declared a state of mourning following the death of Ali Mohammed Ali Said Abu Ghannam, a 16-year-old Palestinian resident who allegedly attempted to stab a Israeli soldier overnight.  IDF soldiers shot and killed Abu Ghannam early Saturday after the teenager attempted to stab a border police officer with a butcher’s knife at a checkpoint on the road between Jerusalem and the West Bank settlement of Ma’ale Adumim, according to security officials.  The teenager was pronounced dead by a medical team that arrived at the scene. The officer was not injured in the stabbing attempt.  The Israeli military said the Palestinian was wielding two knives. He tried to attack troops, who chased him, fired warning shots into the air, and then fired to “neutralize him,” a police spokeswoman said.  The incident took place at the Al-Zaim checkpoint. IDF Troops “fired precise shots, neutralizing” the assailant when he failed to heed their warnings.  Please pray for more supernatural protection over all of Israel

3.  IAF Strikes Hezbollah Targets for the Third Time     Israel News    April 27th

The Israeli Air Force launched airstrikes in the Qalamoun region along the Syrian-Lebanese border on Sunday night, Arab media reported.  According to Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya, the airstrikes targeted rocket launchers belonging to Hebollah and forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad.  Sunday night’s airstrike is the 3rd alleged Israeli strike on Syria in the last two days.  Sunday night’s incursion came only hours after a separate IAF airstrike targeted a killed a group of terrorists that were planting explosives along the northern border with Israel.   The IDF confirmed a “group of armed terrorists” were killed in the strikes after they were spotted crossing into Israeli territory at approximately 9:30 pm.  IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner said the cell was made up of four people who were “identified while clearly laying a mine and were shot by an Israeli Air Force aircraft.”   Israeli Prime Minister  Benjamin Netanyahu praised the vigilance of Israeli forces stationed along the northern border. “Every attempt to injure our soldiers and our citizens will be met with a decisive response like the IDF action this evening, which thwarted an attempted terror attack.”  “I praise the vigilance of the IDF troops that brought about this swift and precise action,” he added.  Earlier on Sunday, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon warned Hezbollah against threatening and testing Israel. Pray that Israel will continue to attack any thing that is considered a threat to the country

4.  Israel’s Unprecedented Aid to Nepal Shows the True Face of the Jewish Nation      Arutz 7  / JNN New  April 27th

As the death toll in last weekend’s deadly earthquake passes 4000, and with thousands more injured, Israeli aid teams are among the scores of international partners that are being rushed to Nepal, which is struggling to cope with the sheer number of casualties and scale of damage. The Israeli government has already dispatched its own team, including six IDF medical experts, a rescue team from the Home Front Command, a team from the IDF Medical Corps, and a representative from the Foreign Ministry. Those personnel have joined the general relief efforts, as well as seeking to locate dozens of Israelis currently either missing or stranded in the worst-hit areas. The devastating quake has also triggered an unprecedented joint-initiative by some of Israel’s leading medical NGO’s: United Hatzalah, Zaka and First are embarking on a joint mission to the disaster-hit country, adding their combined weight to the Israeli team, which also includes emergency workers from Magen David Adom. The team includes doctors, paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians and of course search-and-rescue personnel to deal with the difficult task of locating survivors – and bodies. Israel’s PM Netanyahu sent his condolences to the people of Nepal from the people of Israel on Saturday, 25 April, 2015. He assured that Israel would help in any way possible.   Please pray for the relief, comforting and healing of victims of this tragic national disaster. Intercede that rescue teams will be able to locate those who are missing – and doctors heal those who are injured and suffering.

5. Syrian Mortar Shells Land in Israel    Times of Israel News   April 28th

At least two mortar shells were fired into northern Israel from Syria early Tuesday afternoon, after a series of explosions sounded in the central Golan Heights area. The shells fell in a field outside Kibbutz Ein Zivan and caused neither casualties nor damage. In an initial response, the IDF assessed that the shells had not been fired intentionally, but were rather spillover from battles raging in the area between the Syrian army and rebels.  “The multiple explosions heard in the Golan Heights were most likely errant fire from the internal fighting in Syria,” the army said in a statement. The shells triggered alerts in many nearby towns minutes after 12 p.m., sending residents scrambling for shelters.  “As a result of spillover from fighting between rebels and the Syrian army, several mortar shells fell in the Quneitra valley,” the Golan Regional Council said in a statement. “In keeping with the IDF directives, farmers in the area of the Quneitra valley are urged to go back out” to their fields, the statement said.  The area has seen heightened tension in recent days.

On Sunday night, an Israeli airstrike targeted and killed a group of militants who were spotted placing an explosive on the northern border, a day after an alleged Israeli airstrike on Hezbollah positions in Syria. The attempted bombing may have been a bid by Lebanese terror group Hezbollah to avenge a reported Israeli attack on several targets in Syria and Lebanon last week. The border area in that section is controlled by forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad, Army Radio said. In March, an Israeli army officer was wounded by gunfire from the Syrian side of the Golan Heights in what was believed to have been a deliberate attack.  There have also been multiple instances of stray fire hitting inside Israeli territory, amid fierce battles in and around nearby Quneitra between Syrian regime forces and rebels. Please pray for the IDF to be able to seal the nothern boirder against all attacks

6. IDF Training to Retake Gaza in Future Conflict with Hamas    Times of Israel News   April 30th

In assessing that Hamas will continue to rule the Gaza Strip for the foreseeable future, the IDF is training for the possible reconquering of the entire coastal Palestinian territory in a future confrontation with the Islamic organization, the Times of Israel has learned. Despite the harsh blow Hamas and Islamic Jihad sustained in Operation Protective Edge last July and August, Israel’s military command is convinced that another round of fighting between Israel and Gaza is only a matter of time. The Israeli leadership sees no prospect of the Palestinian Authority gaining control of the Strip, as it continues to demand, and would prefer to face a weakened Hamas than the anarchy of unruly organizations, some of which harbor extremist Islamist ideologies. Hamas & Islamic Jihad lost 1,000 combatants in the 50 days of fighting with Israel, including many low and mid-ranking commanders. The remaining 1,100 Palestinian fatalities in the war are believed to be innocent civilians caught in the line of fire.

Hamas had wanted to take Israel by surprise at the outset of last summer’s operation by planning to launch a massive terror attack on an Israeli community near the Kerem Shalom crossing through a tunnel dug beneath the border. The organization’s political leadership decided to postpone the attack, however, allowing Israel to strike first. That decision has bred a lasting crisis of faith between Hamas’s military wing which pushed for decisive action and the more cautious political branch. Today, eight months after the ceasefire, Hamas has resumed tunnel digging in full force; employing over 1,000 diggers and working three shifts, six days a week.  Meanwhile, eight months after the ceasefire, Hamas has resumed tunnel digging in full force, employing over 1,000 diggers working in three shifts six days a week. The materials used for the tunnels include concrete bought on the black market, as well as wood and hard plastic.  In addition, it is training elite marine and ground forces, known in Arabic as Nukhba, and developing new drones and long-range missiles funded by Tehran.  Lets pray that Israel will retake the Gaza Strip in the near future as it is a legitmate part of the Promised Land

7.  Israel Nepal Rescue Team is the Largest    Times of Israel News   April 30th

Israel’s aid team to the earthquake-battered Himalayan nation of Nepal is the largest in manpower of any international aid mission.  Over 250 doctors and rescue personnel were part of an IDF delegation that landed Tuesday in the Nepalese capital, Kathmandu, in the wake of Saturday’s magnitude-7.8 earthquake that devastated large swaths of the mountainous country, killing at least 5,000 and leaving some 8,000 wounded and tens of thousands seeking shelter and food.  The Israeli group set up a field hospital with 60 beds that began operations on Wednesday in coordination with the local army hospital.  Nepal’s Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and the Nepalese Army’s chief of staff visited the field hospital to attend its opening ceremony.

Dozens of Israeli backpackers are stranded in far-flung areas of the country.. )ne Israeli, Or Asraf, remains unaccounted for of the 2,000 who were in the country when the quake hit Saturday.  Israeli rescue teams hope to finish locating and extracting the last of the stranded backpackers by the end of the day Wednesday.  Asraf was moderately wounded fighting with the IDF in last summer’s Gaza war. After recovering from his injuries and completing his army service, he went backpacking in Nepal, a popular destination for post-army Israelis, and was slated to return to Israel in July.  Israel’s aid convoy to the quake-stricken nation is the largest ever sent by the IDF overseas. Israel has deployed field hospitals to Haiti, the Philippines and Japan in recent years following natural disasters.  Lets pray that the Israeli team will save many many lives as they treat the injured
