These are God’s words to us…not Moses words but God’s words. As men grew on the earth they needed more instruction. What was written on these stone tablets is to be written on our hearts. When anything goes against what is written in our hearts, we will immediately know it is Anti-god…which is anti-Christ…against The Anointed One that came and is coming again. After listening to these words, the Israelites knew they could not see God face-to-face any longer and live. His blazing fire and heat and loud voice had worn on them. They wanted the rest of the instructions to be heard by Moses. Moses now becomes the ‘intercessor’ between them and ADONAI. They would listen to Moses who presented the instructions in a quieter form. They did not like ‘The Trumpet’ personality of God.
First Ten of over Six Hundred Instructions! All of these could apply to each of them. If it said to not covet a man’s wife they knew it also meant to not covet a woman’s husband. All of these instructions could apply to the entire world.
Deu 5:19 “These words Adonai spoke to your entire gathering at the mountain from fire, cloud and thick mist, in a loud voice; then it ceased. But he wrote them on two stone tablets, which he gave to me.
God’s instructions for all mankind –
Deu 5:1 Then—Moshe called to all Isra’el and said to them, “Listen, Isra’el, to the laws and rulings which I am announcing in your hearing today, so that you will learn them and take care to obey them.
Deu 5:2 Adonai our God made a covenant with us at Horev.
Deu 5:3 Adonai did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us—with us, who are all of us here alive today.
Deu 5:4 Adonai spoke with you face to face from the fire on the mountain.
Deu 5:6 א“ ‘I am Adonai your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, where you lived as slaves.
Deu 5:5 At that time I stood between Adonai and you in order to tell you what Adonai was saying; because, on account of the fire, you were afraid and wouldn’t go up onto the mountain. He said,
Deu 5:7 ב “ ‘You are to have no other gods before me.
Deu 5:8 You are not to make for yourselves a carved image or any kind of representation of anything in heaven above, on the earth beneath or in the water below the shoreline—
Deu 5:9 you are not to bow down to them or serve them; for I, Adonai your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sins of the parents, also the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
(We should look back to our parents generations and see if they sinned against God and stop following that example. We are responsible for our sins…not our parents…but we must repent by NOT FOLLOWING our third and fourth generations sins. A change back to The Torah must begin in your generation if it wasn’t happening in your past generations. Find out how deception crept in over the last two thousand years and repent (be sorrowful) about it.
Deu 5:10 but displaying grace to the thousandth generation of those who love me and obey my mitzvot.
Deu 5:11 ג” ‘You are not to misuse the name of Adonai your God, because Adonai will not leave unpunished someone who misuses his name.
Deu 5:12 ד” ‘Observe the day of Shabbat, to set it apart as holy, as Adonai your God ordered you to do.
Deu 5:13 You have six days to labor and do all your work,
Deu 5:14 but the seventh day is a Shabbat for Adonai your God. On it you are not to do any kind of work—not you, your son or your daughter, not your male or female slave, not your ox, your donkey or any of your other livestock, and not the foreigner staying with you inside the gates to your property—so that your male and female servants can rest just as you do.
Deu 5:15 You are to remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and Adonai your God brought you out from there with a strong hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore Adonai your God has ordered you to keep the day of Shabbat.
Deu 5:16 ה” ‘Honor your father and mother, as Adonai your God ordered you to do, so that you will live long and have things go well with you in the land Adonai your God is giving you.
Deu 5:17
ו” ‘Do not murder.
ז” ‘Do not commit adultery.
ח” ‘Do not steal.
ט” ‘Do not give false evidence against your neighbor.
Deu 5:18 י” ‘Do not covet your neighbor’s wife; do not covet your neighbor’s house, his field, his male or female slave, his ox, his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.’
Deu 5:19 “These words Adonai spoke to your entire gathering at the mountain from fire, cloud and thick mist, in a loud voice; then it ceased. But he wrote them on two stone tablets, which he gave to me.
Deu 5:20 When you heard the voice coming out of the darkness, as the mountain blazed with fire, you came to me, all the heads of your tribes and your leaders,
Deu 5:21 and said, ‘Here, Adonai our God has shown us his glory and his greatness! We have heard his voice coming from the fire, and we have seen today that God does speak with human beings, and they stay alive.
Deu 5:22 But why should we keep risking death? This great fire will consume us! If we hear the voice of Adonai our God any more, we will die!
Deu 5:23 For who is there of all humanity that has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the fire, as we have, and stayed alive?
Deu 5:24 You, go near; and hear everything Adonai our God says. Then you will tell us everything Adonai our God says to you; and we will listen to it and do it.’
Deu 5:25 “Adonai heard what you were saying when you spoke to me, and Adonai said to me, ‘I have heard what this people has said when speaking to you, and everything they have said is good.
Deu 5:26 Oh, how I wish their hearts would stay like this always, that they would fear me and obey all my mitzvot; so that it would go well with them and their children forever.
Deu 5:27 Go, tell them to return to their tents.
Deu 5:28 But you, stand here by me; and I will tell you all the mitzvot, laws and rulings which you are to teach them, so that they can obey them in the land I am giving them as their possession.’
Deu 5:29 “Therefore you are to be careful to do as Adonai your God has ordered you; you are not to deviate either to the right or the left.
Deu 5:30 You are to follow the entire way which Adonai your God has ordered you; so that you will live, things will go well with you, and you will live long in the land you are about to possess.
Now open your bibles to Deuteronomy 6 to continue reading. No one can apply all of the instructions today, but we live by those that we can apply.
There is no Temple standing erect on the earth so those things can’t be done, but we can learn from them as they were patterns that looked to Yeshua Jesus, The Messiach’s, return.
He came and is coming back. It will be up to him to declare how He desires to be worshipped…but it is never for us to say what God will do. His ways are above our ways. It is The Temple in the Millennium that will look to that Great Temple coming out of heaven to our atmosphere that will remind us of The Eighth Day.
God’s patterns are always about a place to tabernacle with Him. It is always about real estate. …A Land covenant. The earth is God’s and under His guard…no longer under Satan dominion. Satan will be locked up and there will be no more excuse blaming him for our ‘walking away’ from God and His instructions.
When God says forever…it means to over 60,000 generations. If we’re only at 6,000 years, we have a long long span of ‘forever’ to yet come.
Don’t give up on God’s plan…wrap yourself around at least His first TEN WORDS….I brought you out of Egypt….this world. Yeshua Jesus is our new intermediary along with The Torah (Moses). He leads the way on righteous living on the earth. Jesus never said one thing that was not already said in The Tanak. There is nothing new under the sun as Solomon said…but what is new is The Living Word is ready to come and walk out what our world should look like…no idols, no lying, no killing babies (abortion) or killing humans…no trading wives for sex…no taking of other people’s properties…no other religions drawing our attention away…ONE God! One Torah for all.
When a Hebrew would say the first words of passage it was assumed you meant all the rest of the words. Thus, The Ten Words referenced the rest that followed it.
Parshah study #45 – I Pleaded – contains these first instructions spoken to us directly from a firey mountain….at least my friends obey them.
The Sabbath is Day Seven. Figure out when Day Seven is on God’s calendar. It’s not always Saturday either. Hmm….so many things we’ve been deceived about.
Be blessed from studying – I Pleaded – Deuteronomy 3:23-7:11; Isaiah 40:1-26; Matthew 4:1-11; 22:33-40; Mark 12:28-34; Luke 4:1-13; 10:25-37; Acts 13:13-43; Romans 3:27-31; I Timothy 2:4-6; James 2:14-16.
