David’s Comment:  How to Celebrate the Feasts of the Lord
Leviticus 23:1 -2  YHVH said to Moses: Speak to the Israelites and tell them “These are the YHVH’s appointed times which you must proclaim as Holy assemblies. They are My appointed times   ………

Introduction  ……    As I have been writing over the last few weeks, we seem to be living in the time of strong signs that point to the soon return of the Messiah of Israel to re-establish the Kingdom of YHVH, to rule and reign over all the Earth, sitting on the ‘Throne of David‘ in the rebuilt Temple in the heart of Jerusalem. When the Kingdom does come it will be a Torah based Levitical Kingdom, adhering to the Saturday Sabbath and the Biblical Feast cycle.  We also believe that for the last 47 years, since the 6 Day War of June 1967, the God of Israel has been raising up the Messianic Jewish part of the Body of Messiah to help prepare the non Jewish part of the Body to prepare for life in the Kingdom.  We believe that when the Kingdom does come, it will be based on the Biblical calendar.

The Jewish calendar revolves around the annual Biblical feast cycle, which is absolutley linked to the annual harvest cycle.  So Jewish life revolves around the harvest cycle in Israel, as indeed does the Bible, which from Genesis to Revelation, is all about a harvest.  It is all about God’s plan of redemption, as He prepares to harvest a people who will live forever with Him in His Kingdom. We believe that God is in the process of the restoration of all things in preparation for the return of His Son, Yeshua ( Acts 3:21) , to take up His prophesied role of Messiah, Saviour and King of the Earth.  In Psalm 102:16, the Word tells is that the Lord will build up Zion and then He will appear in His glory.  When the Bible says Zion, it means Israel, however if the Church is in her correct Biblical position, grafted into the natural Olive Tree (Romans 11:17), then she is also a part of Zion, and thus is also included in the restoration process. However, because of the effects of the 2nd century separation of the Church from her true roots and the effects of Replacement Theology, the majority of  Christians have ignored the Feasts of the LORD for most of the last 1900 years.

Josie and I take this calling very seriously, and we intend to do our best to teach our non-Jewish ‘fellow citizens’ (Ep 2:19) in the nations how to keep the Feasts in a Biblical manner and not in the Rabbinic way. As the Feasts come around, we will publish a simple teaching on how the follow the Biblical instructions for each Feast. As Josie often says there is a ‘richness’ in the Feasts of the Lord, that most Christians are missing out on. We pray that through these teachings you will learn more about the God of Israel and His Anonted One – Yeshua our Messiah and soon coming King.  May you also discover the riches and blessings of the Feasts of the LordHag Sameach

The Relevance of the Feasts

1/  The primary purpose of the Feasts is to teach the next generation about God and the coming Messiah.   God’s faithfulness can be clearly seen in the Feasts and there is a clear prophetic picture of the Messiah in each of the Feasts.

2/  YHVH calls the Feasts “His Appointed Times” – We believe that the 7 Biblical Feasts are a prophetic picture of God’s timetable and redemption plan for the World.  The major events in the New Testament have all ocurred at the time of the Biblical Feasts and the numerology is strikingly exact. The feasts of Passover, Unleavened Bread, First-Fruits and Shavuot have been fulfilled in the death and resurrection of Yeshua and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. These last 3 Fall feasts are all about the Lord’s return and Millenium reign and surely will be fullfilled exactly, as were the first 4.

3/  Keeping the Feasts of the YHVH makes us ‘Holy’ or sanctified, which really means to be set apart. Keeping the Feasts of the LORD and not the other religious holidays      sets us apart from the rest of the World.

So let us set ourselves apart and learn how to celebrate the Feasts  of the YHVH    ……….

The Next Feast of the Lord …… Yom Ha Teruah – The Feast of Shofar Blasts
Leviticus 23: 24  “In the seventh month. on the first day of the month, you shall have a Sabbath, a memorial blowing of Shofars, and a Holy assembly.”

For Jewish people in Israel and around the world, next Monday evening sees the ushering in of the Jewish Festival commonly called Rosh Ha Shana, (the Head of the Year), but according to the verse above it should be called the Yom Ha Teruah   –  the Feast of  Shofar Blasts (Trumpets).  The Jewish people  are a resilient people – Perhaps thats why the Lord used the analogy of Israel being an Olive Tree. Olive trees are virtually indestructible.  So the Jewish people are still here, much to the displeasure of our  Muslim neighbours and anti-Semites world-wide, and once again are preparing to celebrate the Fall Feasts of the LORD

What the Bible Says About Yom Ha Teruah

Leviticus 23: 24  Tell the Israelites, “In the seventh month. on the first day of the month, you shall have a Sabbath, a memorial blowing of Shofars, and a Holy assembly.”   “You must not do any regular work and you must present a gift to YHVH.

How the Jewish people celebrate Yom ha Teruah

Most Jewish families celebrate with traditional prayer and a family meal on the evening that the Feast begins. In Israel the next 2 days are a public holiday.  Religious Jews spend much of the Yom ha Teruah praying in the Synogogue where the Shofar is blown a number of times, Most Secular Jews in Israel spend the days at the beach or in the national parks.  Because most Jewish people see this festival as the New Year, the tradition is to eat apples dipped in honey and wish each other a sweet year ahead.

Rabbis also teach that YHVH created the Universe at this time of the year.

How Believers in Yeshua Should Celebrate Yom ha Teruah

As best we can we should at least acknowledge that this 24 hour period is one of the Feasts of the LORD. It is to be a Holy convovation or gathering together. We can also have a time of prayer and praise and a meal with Believing family and friends on the eve of the Feast.  And if possible take the day off from doing customary work.

Today many Bible commentators believe that the Rapture of God’s people will occur one year on the day of  Yom Ha Teruah (1 Cor 15;52  – at the last  Shofar ).   All true Believers look forward to that day, which is close, but yet a few years ( at least 7 ) in the future.  That is surely something to look forward to, however we will all be here for a while yet, and we are involved in a war of immense dimensions –  it is a war between the 2 spiritual kingdoms.  Like Esther, we have been called to the Kingdom at such a time as this, not to be spectators, but to be soldiers in the Army of God.  ( 2 Tim 2:3 & 4   –   Eph 6:12-18  –   2 Cor 10:4 )

What the next Jewish calendar year holds for Israel and for the World is the question we are all pondering.  Only God knows !   Especially in light of the fact that the current Shmetah year ends on the eve of Yom ha Teruah and it seems likely that a Jubilee year begins. Then we have the 4th Blood Red Moon 2 weeks later on the eve of the Feast of Tabernacles or Succot.

There is a time of great shaking ahead and it may already have begun.  The Bible tells us that there will be time of Great Tribulation,  such as the  World has never seen and men’s hearts will fail them because of fear.   Not a pleasant thought, but a necessary fulfillment of Bible Prophecy that must precede the 2nd coming of Messiah.

In spite of the shock and grief that many are sensing as we witness our world shaking apart, Josie and I want  to wish all of our Jewish brethren Hag  Sameach Have a happy Feast  and to all of our ‘grafted-in ….  fellow citizens’,  we invite you to enjoy a pre-taste of eternity and celebrate this Feast of Trumpets with the Jewish people in Israel and in the nations.

May the Lord abundantly bless you this Yom ha Teruah as you awaken to the Shofar blast – lets be sure not to go back to sleep, but to WATCH, PRAY and help PREPARE the way of the Lord’s return

The Lord bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist on the land given to the Jewish people by the God of Israel .  Lets pray that Israel will turn back to their God.  Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Lets also pray for that breakthrough to the Muslims,  and please remember to pray Divine protection for all of the soldiers in the IDF.

Shabbat Shalom & Hag Sameach (have a happy feast) David & Josie

1. Muslim Clerics Incite Against Biblical Feasts      Israel Today News    Sept 4th

Israeli media is warning of increased Palestinian violence during the upcoming Jewish High Holy Days in September and October.  During Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and the week-long Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles), a great many Jews congregate publicly, especially at the Western Wall.  This year, some of those holidays coincide with Muslim holidays and Palestinian nationalist memorials. Yom Kippur and the Muslim feast of Eid al-Adha falls on the same day, and the anniversary of the eruption of the Second Intifada is during Sukkot.  If the past is any indicator, the coinciding of Jewish and Muslim holidays spells trouble, particularly in and around Jerusalem.

Already, Muslim clerics are working their flocks up into a frenzy over what they term the impending Jewish “invasion” of the Temple Mount. From the Israeli perspective, this is nothing short of incitement. Jewish groups always go up to the Temple Mount over Sukkot as it is a biblically mandated practice. But the head of the Koranic Academy of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Nashach Bakhirat, said in an Arabic broadcast in Israel: “The Jewish festivals are ominous for Muslims and for the Al-Aqsa Mosque because at that time Jewish religious extremists will perpetrate attacks against us.”  As easily rebutted as these accusations might be, they are consistently effective in whipping up the Muslim masses against Israel’s Jews.   Please pray for peace over Israel during the Fall Feasts  –  September 13  – October 3rd

2. Yeshiva Students Nearly Lynched After Taking Wrong Turn     Israel Today News   Sept  6th

Five American Jewish students were nearly lynched in Palestinian-controlled Hebron on Thursday after taking a wrong turn while en route to pray at the Cave of the Patriarchs, burial place of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  After finding themselves in the wrong part of town, the Americans were set upon by a mob of stone-throwing Muslim youth. As the mob drew closer, the young visitors frantically fled on foot, leaving behind their car, which was promptly torched.  A kindly Palestinian man who heard the ruckus and rushed outside. He reassured the Americans, two of whom had by then suffered light-to-moderate injuries, and brought them into the safety of his home.  “I heard shouts outside, I left my house and saw the five Jews hurriedly leaving their car, which was attacked by stones,” Faiz Abu Hamadiah told Israel’s NRG news portal. “They were very nervous, and one was injured and bleeding from his face. I told them in Hebrew that it will be okay, I gave them water, and I helped the injured man.”  Hamadiah sheltered the young Americans in his home while sending family members to notify the nearby IDF checkpoint, which sent soldiers to extract the Jewish youth.  Responding to questions about whether he feared being labeled a “collaborator,” Hamadiah bravely replied: “I did the right thing. The people that threw stones at them and torched their car did a bad thing. We need to live here together.”  Please pray that the assailants will be found and punished

3.  Israeli Leaders Address Syrian Refugee Crisis   ICEJ News   Sept 7th

Israleli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the Syrian refugee crisis Sunday, responding to a demand by opposition leader Isaac Herzog for the Jewish State to open its borders to refugees by saying  “We have conscientiously treated over a thousand wounded from the fighting in Syria, and we have helped them rebuild their lives. But Israel is a very small country, with neither demographic nor geographic depth and, therefore, we must control our borders.” He added that Israel is cooperating with countries in Europe and Africa to extend assistance to refugees there, and pointed out that Israel has a proud history of sending humanitarian assistance to countries in need and had nothing to prove regarding its commitments along those lines. Please pray that all of Israel’s borders remain sealed

4. IDF Preparing to Fight ISIL

How and when will the burgeoning ISIS forces in Sinai act against Israel ? For the past year this question has troubled the Israeli intelligence community, which has struggled to provide a satisfactory answer.  The reason it is difficult to get a firm read on the situation is that this particular branch of ISIS is operating in a compartmentalized and largely unorganized manner in a huge open desert with the support of local Bedouin smugglers.  But even without firm intelligence, Israel’s famed Caracal Battalion is gearing up to take on the jihadist horde. Named after a small cat species whose sexes appear the same, Caracal is renowned for fielding both male and female combatants. In fact, some 70 percent of Caracal infantrymen are women, something ISIS reportedly fears.

Worst case scenarios for which the IDF is currently planning include ISIS attacks on the Nitzana and Kerem Shalom border crossings, as well as infiltrations into Israeli border villages.  Such attacks would presumably involve tens of ISIS gunmen, at least, and resemble recent assaults on Egyptian military bases in Sinai, during which dozens of police officers and soldiers have been killed.  Israel has a fence along much of its border with Egypt, but that would only temporarily stall a determined ISIS assault. For that reason, Caracal, which has long patrolled this border, is today, and for the first time, undergoing intense urban warfare training just like the Paratrooper, Golani and Givati infantry brigades.

The mission is simple. If ISIS forces manage to penetrate an Israeli village, Caracal will strike first and strike hard.  Battalion commander Capt. Ksusha Levin said she will be among those to first greet the most brutal terrorist group in the world on its first visit to Israel. “I do not know when the attack will come,” she told Israel’s Ynet news portal. “We are stronger than the enemy, but we are preparing for worst case and extreme scenarios.”   Lets pray that ISIL will not attempt to infiltrate Israel

5. Iran Brags About Superpowers Surrender Over Nuclear Deal   Times of Israel News  Sept 6th

Iran’s defense minister hailed the nuclear accord struck with world powers as a “surrender” by “the superpowers” to “the majesty” of Iran, a watchdog group said. The website of Iran’s leader, meanwhile, published a poster hailing Iran as the region’s “foremost military power.”  Speaking at an armed forces ceremony, Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan declared: “Today, Iran has attained such status that the superpowers have surrendered to it, because of its majesty, its steadfastness, its resistance and its unity.
“Despite their great pride, the regime of the arrogance [the West, led by the US] sat humbly behind the negotiating table and obeyed the rights of the Iranian nation,” Dehghan went on.  His speech was delivered on Sunday.

On August 24, MEMRI also said the website of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei published a poster, entitled “The Iron Fist,” asserting Iran’s strength in the wake of the nuclear deal. The text on the poster states, according to the MEMRI translation: “Those who leveled sanctions against us yesterday are dying today, because Iran has become the region’s foremost military power. The Islamic Republic of Iran has proven that it works diligently to defend itself. The entire nation unites as a solid fist, standing fast against the aggressors who lack all reason.”  The poster shows a clenched fist adorned with Iranian flags breaking through clouds. The fist itself is made up of military equipment, including missiles, jets, ships and tanks.  Lets pray the the nucleaer deal will fall apart before it is ratified by the US Congress

6.  Israel Moves Forward with Gas Plans     ICEJ News   Sept 8th

Israel came a step closer to realizing plans to develop its vast off-shore natural gas resources on Monday when the Knesset voted 59-51 to approve the government’s outline plan. “This is a big day for the State of Israel,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said following the vote. “This will bring tens of billions of dollars to education, welfare, and health and tens of billions of dollars in new investments in Israel.” However, the plan still faces several parliamentary hurdles.  Please pray that even more gas & oil is discovered
